Steeped in romance from its very beginnings, Netley Hall was commissioned in the mid-19th century to celebrate a marriage — a fitting origin for a venue that continues to host love stories today. Built by architect Edward Haycock, the Hall is a fine example of Georgian elegance, surrounded by landscaped grounds and serene freshwater lakes that give the estate a sense of calm grandeur. Small details, like the carved faces of the original bride and groom set into the Brook Suite fireplaces, quietly remind you that this house was always meant for celebration.

Over the years, Netley Hall has been shaped with exceptional care. When Michelle Poole acquired the property in 2001, she undertook an extraordinary restoration, personally overseeing a multi-year renovation that returned the Hall to its former glory. From a photographer’s perspective, that attention to detail is evident everywhere — in the balance of light, the proportions of the rooms and the way the interiors feel elegant without being untouchable.

What makes Netley Hall especially meaningful today is the story behind its opening to the public. After more than a century as a private family home, the decision to share it was driven by passion rather than commerce. The Hall is still guided by that same sense of pride and purpose, offering couples a venue that feels authentic, lovingly restored and rich with story — a place where past and present come together to create something truly special.
