Lucy Charlotte Floral Design

ABOUT ME. Lucy's signature style is unstructured and sort of "wild", filled with hand selected seasonal blooms and plenty of interesting foliage for a real nature inspired feel. She likes to work with new colour palettes and the quirky bends of the stems to celebrate the flowers' unique shapes to make the whole design feel more organic and look - more enchanting.

"I pride myself on being able to translate the clients ideas into reality with a mood-board after our consultation, with knowledge of what’s seasonally available along with an eye for colour and how the right palette can create a particular look or feel, I really love being able to put flower suggestions and colours together that bring to life the essence of what the client has in mind. It can be really difficult for the client if their flower knowledge is limited to get across what they want to achieve, so tapping into my head which is full of colour and flowers is pretty unique to me!" Lucy offers two Wedding Packages which are designed to help steer potential clients into one of two camps at the start of their wedding flowers journey, The Bespoke or the Signature:

"The Bespoke is a full design service where I will work closely with the couple or their Wedding Planner to create some beautiful bespoke installations and creative florals to really dress a venue to it’s full potential, anything goes with this one and we can really have fun coming up with ideas that best suit the venue and surroundings. Alternatively, The Signature is my simplified package for the couple that only want the most essential floral items like Bouquets, Buttonholes, Centrepieces. There can be so much to think about when planning a wedding and endless options when it comes to flowers and arrangements, this option removes the stress for those who are happy to hand over the trust and creative freedom to me. I will make their flowers in their chosen colour palette but the rest is up to me, I’ll always design with seasonal product and in my signature style which is natural, loose and slightly wild."

Lucy says that what makes her most passionate about her line of work is the creativity involved as well as "working with nature is a beautiful thing". Wandering around a local growers flower farm and seeing what’s blooming ahead of a wedding is a great day at work.

"The fact that someone wants my floristry to be part of the most special day of their life is pretty incredible, the relentless hours in peak season and the back breaking parts of the job are totally worth it when you see the Bride's face light up when you deliver her bouquet."

TKP AND LUCY CHARLOTTE FLORAL DESIGN. To feature Lucy on our Suppliers' blog was a very organic decision - we could not get enough of beautiful floral arrangements while editing Amy's and Llyr's wedding, which took place in December, 2021 at a truly romantic country estate, the Orchardleigh House, Frome

"Amy and Llyr were so lovely and easy to work with, they really ran with the fact it was a Christmas time wedding and went all luxurious with velvet dresses so we matched this with the ribbons on the bouquets. We went for classic white blooms with hints of blush and lots of lovely scented foliage, I loved the touches of gold we included throughout from the ribbons to the autumn-tinged foliage which just made it so special."

BOOKING PROCESS. Firstly, there is an initial free consultation to make sure Lucy is the right florist for you. Getting in touch is easy with a message via the contact form on the website or a direct email After the consultation, the proposal would be sent across, along with the T&Cs and information on paying a deposit (£200) to hold the date. Once returned, your date is secured in the diary!

"It’s only me so I will reply personally to every call or email!" Ideally, please ensure to book at least 12 months in advance. It’s pretty disappointing if your chosen suppliers aren’t available so just get in touch as soon as you can. Lucy has bookings for up to 1.5 years in advance, but, occasionally, a date stays available, if so, you can book within a few months. WORDS of WISDOM. Lucy advises anyone looking for the right florist to check out their gallery first and make sure their style of work is what you want; also to try to come to a consultation with an idea of your flower budget, although this can be difficult as clients often don’t know the prices of flowers, which are also very season dependent. Yet even a rough idea is helpful to make sure she quotes you designs that are going to be achievable. Peonies, hands down, are the most highly coveted of all wedding flowers. Everyone loves 'em, everyone wants 'em, but sadly, they're one of the most expensive flowers.
