Blackwell Grange Hotel Wedding. Charlene and Stuart, November 5th, 2021

HOW THEY MET. Charlene and Stuart met online although up until now majority of their Family think they met through a mutual friend. They both lived in a nearby town to each other, both the same age with birthday’s two weeks apart and never had heard of one another. From the very first date, Charlene's and Stuart's relationship has been effortless, with lots of beautiful memories made and Charlene’s children have been the absolute centre of everything they have done.

They had been together on the day of the Wedding, exactly five years to the day, which is why they chose this day; for the first time this Year, Autumn is Charlene’s favorite time. Charlene says:

"Stu is a great stepfather to Gracey and Louie, who absolutely adore him for everything he does, like wise with Stu adoring them too. Our relationship has just grown from strength to strength with us both being each other’s biggest supporter in everything we choose to do. We are both on the same page with everything and have so many beautiful memories still to make together and as a Family."

PROPOSAL. They got engaged in New York prior to jetting off to Las Vegas, which was the reasoning behind their table names. Charlene's engagement ring was bought from Macy’s whilst in New York, Stu proposed after they left the restaurant and before returning to the hotel on West 35th Street:

"The proposal was just perfect, we waited until the early hours of the morning, so we could phone Gracey and Louie to tell them. They both cried on the videocall and shared how excited and happy they both were that this had happened."

WEDDING. It was important for the couple to have a wedding venue that was local to them, and after visiting several places, nothing else compared to the Blackwell Grange Hotel

"Our Friends mean a great deal to us just as much as what our Family do, which is why it was so important to us that we chose a venue that was local to us, so that all our special people who we wanted to be there were able to. From the very first contact with the hotel, Deborah was just amazing at ensuring that we were listened to and we had the day we truly wanted."

It took the couple about 2 years and 6 months to plan and organise their Big Day.

They knew that they needed the time to ensure they had everything just as they wanted and didn’t want to rush a thing: " was so important to us that our day reflected us as a couple and as a Family, that everything we thought of meant a great deal to us. We chose to have this day as this was our anniversary of been together for five years. Every supplier we chose, even down to the writing style and language, had so much time and effort gone into it to ensure that it was perfect. We truly spent so much time going over every detail and we are so pleased that we did, as we couldn’t be anymore happier about our special day."

Charlene's and Stuart's wedding was very much modern with some aspects of rustic, for example, wooden baskets/donut wall. They wanted lots of candles, fairy twinkly lights, mirrors, with soft colors to compliment the navy that was chosen for the suits. Every little detail was thought of, such as the gifts to their wedding party, flowers, the writing that ran throughout the wedding. Lots of hours were spent finding the perfect suppliers.

The couple had a budget and went way over what they thought they would spend. Their wedding costed over £15,000, and they we stopped counting once they reached that.

THE DRESS. Prior to going wedding dress shopping, Charlene had an exact idea of what she wanted, however that was completely different to what she went with:

"I had seen Alice Elizabeth bridal boutique and had always admired their window display. I had a budget in mind, however totally went over this, yet I wouldn’t have chosen anything other than what I did. I went with an Enzoani Nandana; this was my very first experience of trying dresses on and went with this dress after only trying on four others. I just loved the long train and complimented this with my veil I had chosen. Lauren (Boutique Manager) was amazing and so helpful. She helped me find my veil, hairpiece and could not do enough to ensure I felt nothing but amazing."

ADVICE TO FUTURE BRIDES. Charlene says that the best advice she still tells everyone from when she planned and to now, being married, is to do your own thing:

"Your wedding is about you both as individuals, a couple and often as a family. Choose your own style, do the things you like, don’t just settle from what someone else has done. Your day is about you, make it personal to you. There is a reason why your getting married in the first place, stand out from everyone else and have the day you have always dreamed of. Most importantly is to enjoy every moment of it, it truly is the most amazing time."

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY. Charlene and Stuart mutually agree that the day was just amazing, full of emotions, a day that neither of them will ever forget. Everything just took its course seamlessly, as and when they wanted things to happen: "..from Gracey walking down the aisle crying happy tears, to the vows and the dancing. The day was just so emotional with a sense of pure happiness from everyone."

Charlene adds:

"Every single supplier we chose, we chose for the reason we did as we were just amazed at what they could do, our wedding was stress free and that is all down to each and every one of them for doing what the do. Huge thank you to Mick (The Kensington Photographer) for capturing the most perfect shots and to Jason (The Kensington Photographer) for making everything so simple and stress free. We are beyond grateful to you both, thank you"
